When I think of figs my mind jumps to two things: fig newtons and Jesus. Jesus because of the story in the New Testament where he came across a fig tree, and wanted a snack. When he saw there were no figs on the tree, he basically killed the tree with his mind.
I think it was a parable about being productive, and “bearing fruit”. But in a literal sense I totally get why Jesus was so annoyed. Fresh figs are delicious! No need to encourage lazy trees just hanging out not contributing.
