Yes, I’m trying to get all my berry recipes in under the wire. I mean, berries and I have some catching up to do.
This is a light icee drink that’s so sweet and refreshing you’ll be amazed it has no added sugar. It’s made with real lemon juice and muddled strawberries, so it’s actually really good for you! That’s a lot more than can be said for your average snow cone or slushy.
Pure, fresh-squeezed lemon juice is the cornerstone of this recipe, and provides a healthy dose of Vitamin C, Folate, Potassium and Phytochemicals.
The benefits of Vitamin C sprawl from aiding collagen formation, protecting joints and helping skin keep its elasticity, to dismantling free radicals in the body and therefore protecting against cancers, and helping to balance blood pressure.
Folate contributes to a healthy reproductive system, potassium strengthens nerve and muscle function, and phytochemicals defend the body against several chronic diseases including cancer and heart disease.
As for the fresh strawberries, they contain high amounts of lovely flavonoids which are credited with the ability to counteract immunodeficiency functions in humans! A candida sufferer’s body is essentially in constant immunity mode, and when overwhelmed can easily become immunodeficient. So these joy-inducing berries can also be an essential asset in any candida-battling regimen.
They also contain their own versions of anti-cancer and coronary disease prevention properties.
So now that you know just how amazing this drink is for your whole body, let’s talk about how much you’re going to enjoy the taste and texture.
It’s actually remarkable better than any slushy I’ve ever had in my life. The sweet strawberries take the edge off the tangy lemon juice. Just a few drops of vanilla stevia brings it even further to the sweet side, but as usual, is totally optional.
This cool, icy, sweet blended drink rivals, in fact outshines, anything you could pick up at an ice cream shop and contains none of the gross high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavorings or other dirty ingredients.
Make a few glasses before the summer ends! You could just as easily use frozen strawberries if they’ve disappeared from your local produce sections already.
